2017-01-11 - Python3.6, Mesa, Breath-themes, Kernels (Testing Update)
Verfasst: Donnerstag 12. Januar 2017, 06:53
Hi community!
It's about time for another testing update!
This time it took a little longer because of the update of Python to version 3.6. This resulted in a very long list of necessary rebuilds and several package issues needed to be spotted and fixed before it felt right to ship all this to the testing branch.
If you are still using infinality fonts, namely with Plasma 5, please pay special attention that the update to harfbuzz 1.4.1 is incompatible with infinality bundle. More information can be found here
Also consider that meanwhile it might really not be necessary to keep infinality at all instead of configuring the improved native subpixel rendering of freetype2.
The update of python might require you to rebuild some AUR packages, which you can simply achieve by reinstalling them with yaourt.
A good way to spot affected packages is to look in your directory /usr/lib/python3.5/site-packages which libraries are currently still installed in that location.
You can also check that with pacman -Qo /usr/lib/python3.5/site-packages.
After the rebuild of these packages those files will be moved to the python3.6 directory and all should be fine.
Apart from that I added cinnamon-sounds to our repos, which is a collection of the default Linuxmint system-sounds to be used in the next Manjaro Cinnamon release. So in case you feel like 'mintifying' your Mate or Cinnamon install a bit, go ahead and just install that package!
Some of our settings-packages also got updated while their maintainers are working on the upcoming 17.0 editions.
The new default KDE themes collection Breath, created again by @mcder3, was now completed with: plasma5-themes-breath, breath-wallpaper, breath-icon-theme , breath-dark-icon-theme and sddm-breath-theme.
Xreader has now added epub support.
Deepin-desktop received a bugfix and some more Deepin packages where updated.
And of course also some kernels have seen their next point releases: linux 4.4.41, linux 4.8.17, linux 4.9.2 and linux 4.10rc3
