hallo und guten Abend community,

ich will gerne den Kernel hochziehen - ist denn die geeignete Methode hierzu dann  der WEG über die Kommandozeile:

n Manjaro it’s quite easy to install a new kernel and switch to it via the Manjaro Settings Manager, a great GUI. However there are certain scenarios where you want or need to do this via a terminal.

So here’s how to manually install a new Linux kernel in Manjaro and switch to it via commandline/terminal.

1. Download the following packages (change the kernel version number accordingly). If you use VirtualBox, then also install the relevant VirtualBox modules:

linux414
linux414-ndiswrapper
linux414-headers
linux414-virtualbox-host-modules

You can install the packages via pacman using a single command:

sudo pacman -S linux414 linux414-ndiswrapper linux414-headers linux414-virtualbox-host-modules

2. Switch to the new kernel using the following command:
sudo mhwd-kernel -i linux414

3. Reboot

4. Check if the switch to the new kernel was successful by entering the following command in a terminal:
uname -a

If no switch to the new kernel has taken place, try rebooting and switching to the new kernel using the Grub menu. (advanced options)

5. If you want to update the kernel later on, then simply download and install the latest versions of the (above) kernel packages. Don’t forget to sync with the repository servers first, so that you can search and download the latest package versions via pacman:
sudo pacman -Syy

The following command updates the packages. It’s wrapped onto multiple lines, but it is one command:
sudo pacman -S linux414 linux414-ndiswrapper linux414-headers linux414-virtualbox-host-modules

Ich mache das immer über den Manjaro Einstellungsmanager.

Ob das überhaupt sein muss nutze den Kernel aus der Signatur. Spiele auch mit den Gedanken den 418 Kernel zu installieren. Aber das ist ja noch der RC Kernel. Deshalb bleib ich lieber vorerst noch im laufenden Kernel. Zumindest auf mein Hauptsystem. Manjaro ist nämlich doch manchmal etwas zickig

vielen Dank für Eure Antworten - ich würde das mit dem Kernel auch lassen - aber ich hab hier einen ziemlich dickes Brett zu bohren.

Das Problem das Maus-/Track/-clickpad arbeitet nicht... : - bei einem neuen Akoya-Notebook E 4254

hab in den  X11 so schon einiges gemacht;: /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/
etc. etx.

Wie es nun weitergeht: um hier also mal einen Milimeter weiterzukommen sollte ich das ggf mal versuchen mit dem Kernelupdate über den Manjaro Einstellungsmanager.


Das Interessante daran ist Folgendes:

- mit keiner einzigen Distro -ausser mit Antergos - läuft es auf Anhieb:

- mit Antergos läufts in der Live-Version
( die Vollinstallation der 18.07 hing:  vgl. https://forum.antergos.com/topic/10388/ ... antergos/3 )

also - mit Antergos 18.7 lief es wunderbar - die Touch- und Clickpad arbeiteten in der Liveversion sehr gut - durchinstalliert hab ich  das nicht.  Da gab es beim Durchinstallieren Probleme mit Download Packages - vgl. https://forum.antergos.com/topic/10304/ ... to-proceed

diese wurden abgestellt - in der antergos 18.8:  antergos 18.8; mit Antergos 18.7 lief es wunderbar - die Touch- und Clickpad arbeiteten in der Liveversion sehr gut: Bis dato hab ich allerdings  die Antergos Version 18.8 nicht durchinstalliert.


nun - ich will nun noch eimmal versuchen, das  Touch- und Clickpad mit Manjaro zum laufen zu bringen.

und ja: es geht dann - nachdem ich den Kernel hochgezogen hab dann bzgl. des Touch & Clickpad weiter auf dem Thread hierzu: https://forum.manjaro.org/t/akoya-e4254 ... g/53268/32


update: also ich hab bei dem Akoya jetzt erstmal Antergos 18.8 durchinstalliert - das erste mal. Und siehe da: Das läuft einwandfrei - in jeder Hinsicht. Touch u. Clickpad funktionieren einwandfrei.

Fazit: Manjaro läuft auf dem großen 17 zoll Lenovo Notebook u. auf dem 13 Zöller dem Akoya 4254 läuft nun erstmal Antergos 18.8 ...
